This is the Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon, Portugal. It was built over 500 years ago and it is very famous in Portugal. The Jeronimos Monastery is the most impressive symbol of Portugal’s power and wealth during the Age of Discovery.

King Manuel I built it in 1502 on the site of a hermitage founded by Prince Henry the Navigator, where Vasco da Gama and his crew spent their last night in Portugal in prayer before leaving for India.

The Toja Island (Toxa in the Galician language) is about one hour far from Pontevedra (northwest of Spain). The white building with a pool is a 5-star hotel. On the left you can also see O Grove - a fishermen village in Galicia.

One of he most scenic places in Benin is probably Ganvie. The village in a lagoon behind Cotonou is entirely built on the water. You can visit it with a boat, a very pittoresque place! As the largest stilt-village in Africa and home to about 30,000 Tofinu tribe members, all of whom live in dwellings built about two meters above Lake Nokoue, Ganvie is one of Benin’s leading tourist magnets.

The tribe allegedly came to this fishing-based lifestyle on the lake in the 1600s when the people fled there to escape the slave-hunting Dahomey tribe whose religious customs banned them from venturing into the water. Originally based on farming, the village’s main industries other than tourism are now fishing and fish farming.
