Bochum is located in the centre of the Ruhr area. The Ruhr area is a densely populated part of Germany with around 5.3 million people. It’s identity was strongly derived from the formerly prevaliing coal-mining and steal industry. Today it is sometimes called ‘Ruhr city’ because often it is not clear where one city ends and the next starts.

The church is located at the Breitscheidplatz, the center of former West-Berlin. This church locates close to the main railway station. It looks very unique, especially at night. The original church, built in the late 19th century, was almost completely destroyed during World War II (1939-1945).
The Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche or Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church is one of Berlin’s most famous landmarks. The damaged tower is a symbol of Berlin’s resolve to rebuild the city after the war and a constant reminder of the destruction of war.

Together with its twin, the Französischen Dom (French Cathedral), the Deutscher Dom (German Cathedral) provides a stunning backdrop to Gendarmenmarkt, Berlin’s prettiest square. The original structure was completed in 1708, but it was not until 1785 that the impressive dome by Karl Gontard was added.
The Deutscher Dom was completely destroyed in World War II and was subsequently rebuilt from 1977 to 1988. The cathedral was updated and reopened in 1996 as a Museum of German History. Französischer Dom (German for: French Cathedrale) is a Protestant church located in Berlin on the Gendarmenmarkt across from the Deutscher Dom.
