Anocheccer en El Taide - Atardeceres en Playa de las Americas. Tenerife has deservedly retained its reputation as a paradise isle over the years, renowned for its beautiful beaches, breathtaking scenery and temperate climate. Situated in the Atlantic off the coast of Africa, Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, formed by a series of volcanic eruptions millions of years ago.

Known as the Island of Eternal Spring, Tenerife has the lowest temperature difference between summer and winter for anywhere in the world. The average daily temperatures reach around 24 degrees in the summer and drop to around 18 in the winter months. The temperate climate and cooling breezes created by trade winds allow for afternoon golf, tennis, and walking all year round, while the coastal resort of El Medano is a Mecca for fans of water sports.

A postcard from Tenerife: El Teide - Drago Milenario; Vilaflor - Jardin Botanico. Tenerife and the other Canary Islands are located in the Atlantic ocean about 200 miles west of Morocco and the Sahara Desert. Where tourists come to enjoy Tenerife’s sunny beaches, to discover it’s majestic and craggy volcanic lunar landscape of the Teide National park and richness of it’s folklore.

Tenerife is the largest island of the archipelago. There are most varied landscapes: a mountain range with the mighty volcanic crater Canadas del Teide, with a diameter of 20 kilometers, and the 3.718 meters high Teide in its center; extremely fertile valleys with important cultures of bananas and tomatoes; and a seaside offering as well beautiful steep coasts as wide beaches of fine sand.

The real Bridge Over River Kwai in Kanchana Buri, Thailand. The Bridge on the River Khwae (the Death Railway Bridge). Thanks to several films and books, the Bridge on the River Khwae has become notoriously famous and attracted both Thais and foreigners to the site. If an ordinary black iron bridge can tell a story, you can be sure it’s a dramatic one. The name “Death Track” was given to this railway track during World War II due to the death of the prisoners of war building it. However, the trip is only safe and very pleasurable nowadays.

Find Postcard Collectors From Kanchana Buri, Thailand

The railway was built by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II when Siam, as Thailand was known at that time, and all the other countries in Southeast Asia were occupied by Japan. As the occupation army was encountering strong counter-attacks by Allied forces by sea and air, Japan had difficulty in supplying its troops in Burma up to the border of India.

Now the so-called Death Railway is mainly a railway for tourists. It takes you to picturesque countryside to see vast expanses of green fields, a breath-taking viaduct winding along a precipice, long ranges of jungle-covered mountains and a waterfall which is quite a safe place for even children to play in because the water volume is small and the rocks are not slippery.

Sapporo is the capital of Hokkaido. The city itself is not really beautiful, but is an excellent base for exploring the rest of the island. It has more nightlife than any other city north of Tokyo. The Susukino district has countless bars, nightclubs and hostess bars. During winter the Sapporo snow festival attracts visitors from all over the country to see the huge (15 to 20 meters high) snowsculptures that are on display all over Odori Park. You can rent cross country skis for free in Nakajima park.

Despite its size and bustle, this is a pleasant and vibrant city, dominated to the south by the mountains that served as the location for the 1972 Winter Olympics, it is less than thirty minutes from the coast. It’s also generously endowed with parks and gardens and is laid out in an easy-to-follow grid plan. The city’s layout was designed in the 1870s by a team of European and American experts engaged by the government to advise on the development of the island.

Gonder (also called Africa’s Camelot) is home to several castles dating back to the 17th century when Ethiopia was a wealthy nation with caravan routes to the Red Sea. Three wealthy rulers had built palaces in one compound in Gonder. Though their lavish riches and decorations are long gone, the basalt walls, domed towers and crenellated parapets still stand.

First stop on the Gonder tour is the Royal Enclosure - a 70,000 sq metre site in the middle of town full of castles built by successive emperors in the 17th and 18th centuries. Inside the outer walls one finds Fasilides castle, Iyasu’s Palace, Dawit’s Hall, a banqueting hall, stables, Mentewab’s Castle, a chancellery, library and three churches.

The King Fahad Mosque is a good walk away, but it’s worth the effort to gaze on the tall minarets and the splendour of its arches. Take in the bright fresh colours but remember, if you enter, remove your shoes, cover your legs and, if you are female, cover your head and shoulders. It’s important you respect the building and their religion.
