Montmorency Falls, Quebec

Measuring 83 meters high – 90 feet higher than Niagara Falls – the Montmorency Falls are an amazing attraction for all ages. Take the short 15 minutes trip to see this natural wonder. The Montmorency Falls are located in front of the Island of Orleans and were named by Samuel de Champlain for his patron, the duke of Montmorency. Though higher than Niagara, they are far narrower.

Omodos – Cyprus

The Omodos village in Cyprus is situated in 11 km southwest of Platres. A wine producing village, once the property of Sir John De Brie, Prince of Galilee, with the Monastery of Stavros, ‘Holy Cross’, standing by the stone-paved square. The monastery contains old icons, excellent wood carving and other ecclesiastical objects of interest, as well as a small National Struggle Museum. A traditional wine press known as ‘linos’, has been restored in an old house.

Omodos – Monastery of Stavros. The Monastery of the Holy Cross is one of the oldest and most historic monasteries on Cyprus. According to legend, the Monastery was established before St. Helen’s arrival in Cyprus in 327 AD, when she left a part of the Holy Rope and the Holy Rood in the Monastery. This was the rope with which the Romans bound Christ to the Cross.

Lisboa – Ponte Vasco da Gama

An extraordinary Expo 1998 initiative, this 17,185m (56,380ft) long and 30m (98ft) wide bridge is Europe’s longest bridge, with foundations extending 85m (279ft) below sea level. It has also been built to withstand 250 kmph winds and an earthquake 4.5 times stronger than the 1755 calamity.

You can see this bridge when gettin in Lisbon from its airport: coming from the south on the A2, turn off before Lisbon onto the A12/IP1 towards Lisboa Norte/Ponte Vasco da Gama. Cross the Vasco da Gama Bridge and continue on the IP1/E01/E80 towards Lisboa Centro to the Aeroporto Lisboa exit (journey time 15 minutes).

The Colossi Castle in Cyprus

The Colossi Castle in Cyprus was built by the Crusaders (Hospitallers, the Order of St. John of Jerusalem) in the 13th century this castle served as their headquarter. This well-preserved castle, restored in 1933 is a good example of military architecture of that period.

A spiral staircase leads up to the roof and the restored battlements. There are also plenty of citrus orchards in the area, and you can pick up some of country’s juiciest oranges in the markets here.
