Nida is a famous resort in Curonian Bay, Lithuania. Nida is the largest settlement on the Curonain Spit – a long, thin peninsula of sand dunes that extends from Kalingrad in the south to not quite touch Klaipeda with it’s northern tip. The spit, roughly half Russian and half Lithuanian territory, is 98km long and just 400m wide at it’s narrowest point. In Nida on the top of the Parnidzio Dune there is a sand clock. This location is quite unique since here as in the middle of the ocean one can determine one`s precise co-ordinates and the local time.
